When bulk buying pays

Only for things you'll use before they spoil.

4 min read

Buying in bulk can lower the unit price, but only if you use it all. Food you throw away isn't a bargain.

Good bulk buys

  • Rice, oats, dried beans and pasta
  • Canned goods you use often
  • Frozen vegetables and fruit
  • Meat you'll divide and freeze right away

Think twice

  • Fresh produce you can't use in time
  • Spices, which lose flavor
  • Snacks that disappear faster in bigger packs
