A meal plan doesn't need to be fancy. Planning just the week's dinners saves most of the money and stress.
How to start
- Check what's already in your fridge, freezer and pantry
- Pick five dinners, leaving two nights for leftovers or flexibility
- Plan at least one meal that uses up what's left
- Write the shopping list from the plan, not from the store aisles
Keep it easy
- Rotate a list of 10 to 15 meals your household likes
- Use theme nights, like soup Sunday or taco Tuesday
- Plan a backup meal from the pantry for busy nights
